What am I looking for?

 

Au pair


An Au Pair from an EU member country may work 25/30 hours per week + two evenings babysitting. In return they will receive pocket money of £70 - £80 per week proportionate to the number of hours worked
Au Pairs from Bulgaria and Romania are only permitted to work for 25 hours per week + 2 evenings babysitting.
Au Pairs are also permitted to come to the UK under Tier 5, the Youth Mobility Visa. Under this visa we can accept candidates from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.


Au Pair Plus


An Au Pair Plus may work between 31-35 hours per week and in return they will receive  pocket money of £80 – £110 per week proportionate to the number of hours
Au Pair Plus are also permitted to come to the UK under Tier 5, the Youth Mobility Visa. Under this visa we can accept candidates from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.


Mother's Help


A Mother's Help works between 36 - 45 hours per week plus two evenings babysitting. Salary from £180 net per week for native English speaking Mother's Help depending upon age and experience. Salary of between £120 - £180 net per week for European Mother's Help applicants where English is not their first language. It is the employer's responsibility to ensure that tax and national insurance contributions are paid. We will be pleased to give guidance on this.


Nannies
Live-in nannies


Working hours are upon agreement but generally hours are breakfast time until bed time. They will normally do 2 babysitting nights a week, upon agreement. It is usual for the live-in nanny to receive two full days off per week and holidays are negotiable although.
Salary: £250-£450 net per week.
Salaries are totally dependent on the nanny's age and experience and Choices-Direct Ltd will advise on a realistic remuneration obtainable by each individual applicant.


 

 

Live-out nannies


Working hours could start as early as 8 am and finish at 6 pm with some small variations. Babysitting is paid overtime and holidays are upon agreement, although the standard is 4 weeks per year.
Salary: £7.50-£10.00 per hour net
Salaries are totally dependent on the nanny's age and experience and Choices-Direct Ltd will advise on a realistic remuneration obtainable by each individual applicant.

 

Housekeeper-Live in/Live out


Live in -they usually work up to 45 hours per week and we recommend a net salary of between £150 - £250 per week depending on age and experience, plus full board and lodging.
Live out- Salary is between £7.50-£10.00 per hour net
 Please note that it is the host family's responsibility to ensure that tax and NI contributions are paid.  We will be pleased to give any guidance on this.


Live in Couples


They usually work up to 50 hours per week and we recommend a net salary of between £100 - £200 per week for each candidate depending on hours, age, experience and duties required plus full board and lodging.

Babysitters


Salary: £8.00-£14.00 per hour net
Salaries are totally dependent on the candidate's age and experience and Choices-Direct Ltd will advise on a realistic remuneration obtainable by each individual applicant.

Carers

 

A carer is someone trained in helping people with daily hygiene needs, assist with eating and drinking, toileting, observations, cannula removal, blood taking, general cleaning, shopping and cooking.
Salary is at least £ 5.93 per hour.


As a host family you might have to:

 

    • Make the candidate feel as part of the family
    • Collect the candidate from the airport. If this is not possible you will reimburse the travelling expenses incurred by the candidate from the airport (or other places i.e. train station) to your residence
    • Sign a written agreement (Choices Direct Ltd provides a sample) between you and the candidate prior to or on start date in line with role agreed with the agency
    • Give your candidate time to settle in, with your guidance, training and support
    • Provide clear written guidance on what is expected in line with role agreed with agency.
    • Provide full board for the candidate. A fully furnished room with heating which will be inclusive of utility charges and free of charge meals.
    • Pay pocket money/wages weekly or monthly (according to contract with the candidate)
    • Give time-off and support to your candidate in order to attend appropriate language classes if required by the candidate
    • Give a minimum of one week's paid holiday for every six months that they completed with you.
    • Give your candidate two weeks paid notice (live-in) in case you wish to terminate the contract.
    • Provide driving assessment + lessons if candidate is required to drive; access to insured and safe vehicle
    • Pay extra pocket money/salary for extra help
